Built around the 12th century, the building has been enlarged and altered several times over the centuries.  It is unclear who is actually buried in the the mausoleum - we were told it was relatives of Mohammed but although it was clearly a shrine this seemed unlikely.  We came across a traditional wedding at Astana Baba and ended up featuring in their wedding video.
