Yeha

Once the most important city in Tigrai, Yeha was founded around 2,800 years ago.  The well preserved stone temple stands 12m high and consists of up to 52 layers of masonry.  It was built about 2,500 years ago.  There was a nice little musuem attached to the church where the priest (pictured) realised he was a photo opportunity and then went on to show us his collection of manuscripts (pictured far right).
