gelada baboons
Gelada baboons are indiginous to Ethiopia and are only found here. They sport a red patch on their chest as opposed to the one on the rear-ends of their cousins. They are unique in that they feed predominantly on grass. Their main strong-hold is in the Simien Mountains where they live close to the rock faces where they sleep and dive down if they feel in danger - although in reality their greatest danger is from climatic change which may ultimately destroy their habitat. |
