Bet Gabriel-Rafael

Probably originally erected as a royal residence of King Lalibela. The gorge (pictured on the right) is also called the River Jordan as the Southern Complex is reputed to have been constructed as second Jerusalem.  The women below are cleaning the moss off the church - a task much greater than the Forth Road Bridge especially given the painstakingly slow speed they worked at.
